Thanks for bringing back the Popeye statue for me. Chester, IL is a nice little town. It is/was the birthplace and hometown of the creator of the Popeye character. (name escapes me this morning). We stayed there for awhile on a roadtrip "up" the river a few years ago.

I don't know the scene specifically but I will guess that the car is a Nash Ambassador year unknown but in the 50's sometime.

Hmmm, the tree line and the building styles say the Lower Midwest?

We passed thru Chester Ill a few years ago on our drive cross country. It was our "embarcation point" over the Mississippi (right behind the trees in Sizz' photo) into Missouri.

The tiwn website has some interetsting info on Popoeye, including that this year is the statue's 30th birthday & the town is sponsoring a Polpeye Picnic (in case YOU want to do a cross the Mississippi passage there...)

As for the car, probably something that was dragged out of the Mississippi river at one point in its life, so as for the model, I'll say "Restored".

Thanks for your input NYMN.............. Linda and I crossed the river from the other side........ just 10 days ago. As a matter of fact we crossed the river at different points 8 times as we drove down the Mississippi on our way to Memphis.

Greymo got it right. It is Hastings, MN south of St. Paul, MN. BTW, Delano is not on the Mississippi River.
