Steamers or Cameron's in Bethesda Cantler's in the above post is really the most fun, best taste and best view...get there early though and spend the afternoon sitting on the deck over the water getting crabs and beers!

I have been to a good one in Rock Hall, MD, next to Chestertown on the Eastern Shore. Don't recall the name but it was easy to find as Rock Hall was small and it was right on the water. Lots of families, crackin' them crabs

Lots of families, crackin' them crabs I did a little research for you, since I noticed that most of the places listed are near Baltimore, and the place I have in mind is on the other side of the Bay. Here it is, the name is Watermens Crab House, the website shows the "down to earth" (or "down to sea" kind of place it is http://www.watermanscrabhouse.com/home/ (if you can stand the music..) Also, on Rock Hall itself http://www.rockhallmd.com/ Also I noticed that they are having the Annual Rock Hall Seafood Festival on Oct. 25 & 26. Now, that sounds worth giving a try!! Maybe I'll drive down myself from NY. It's so nice and laid back there.

Just returned from Baltimore and another meal at L P Steamers. Nothing fancy, but good crabs and a fun time.

I second Mike's in Riva, MD., and I also second the comment about crab houses not being fancy. Do not wear anything that you will mind getting crab residue on, and give yourself plenty of time -- 2-3 hours. Except for the very skilled (which I am definitely not), picking crabs is time-consuming, and is meant to be enjoyed at a slower pace.
