Book your room today
If you are coming to New Orleans for FOODFEST: AMERICA’S HOMETOWN EATS (March 28-30) and haven’t yet made a hotel reservation, now is the time to do it. Special room rates available to those who book through the Foodfest website are available only until February 28th. Please, make your reservation now, by clicking here.
For us, staying at the Monteleone Hotel in the heart of the French Quarter is a highlight of the weekend. This legendary Beaux Arts hostelry and its Carousel Piano Bar (favorite watering hole of such litterateurs as Tennessee Williams, William Faulkner, and Ernest Hemmingway) are an only-in-New Orleans experience. The Monteleone is such an emblem of the city’s unique spirit that Truman Capote used to claim he had been born there (he was not). We will meet you for Sazeracs at the Carousel!
America's Hometown Sweets
If you like candy, cookies, cake, ice cream, baked Alaska, bread pudding, pralines, or just about any other dessert-type thing, don’t forget to reserve your spot for the Friday night kickoff party – AMERICA’S HOMETOWN SWEETS. Delicious sweet things from around the country will be served in abundance at Café Reconcile, which is the worthy beneficiary of any profits. Tickets are limited, available here.
Foodfest Legends Return
And finally, if you need encouragement to come to FOODFEST this year, note that there are over a dozen new vendors coming to offer their unique specialties at the street festival on Saturday and Sunday. Among returning favorites are what we consider the best barbecue on Planet Earth – Louie Mueller of Taylor, Texas – and the best fried chicken in the solar system – Gus’s of Memphis, Tennessee.
