A lobster-lover's delight, the Clam Shack's rolls are loaded with all the meat from a one-pound lobster, in big succulent hunks.

Here is lobster-lover's heaven: a cup of nothing but moist, tender knuckle meat fairly bursting with flavor.

Steve Kingston, Clam Shack proprietor, worried out loud to us about his dilemma: to serve inferior clams from Canada, or to serve no clams at all? Many businesses up and down the shore don't have to worry about that issue because their clams come frozen, and are the same all the time.

Fried clam quality depends on how the clams are running. During my last visit, they were running fine, and this was one heck of a delicious clam roll.

While there is no formal dining area at the Clam Shack, these makeshift seats are a good place to dine. They'll even boil a lobster for you inside the store next to the shack.

Richard Jacques founded The Clam Shack, and in 2001 sold it to Steve Kingson, a local boy who learned the ropes across the bridge at Marie's ice cream. Steve has promised long-time fans he has no intention of changing anything about this marvelous eatery.
