A meal Dr. Atkins would have loved: nothing but meat, all of it smoked. On this plate are turkey sausage, ham, pork and brisket. The sausage was the most luscious. The ham was a little dry. The pork was soft and sweet. The brisket was tender and beefy-flavored, but needed a bit of sauce to attain proper moistness.

Here is tea service for one: a full glass and a full pitcher of refills. Smitty's tea is of the non-sweet variety.

On the side of the High Protein plate came a cup of barbecue sauce (served warm) and slices of spongy white bread to complement the meat.

Listed on the menu as
"Listed on the menu as "Melinda's home made Rum Cake," this moist, sweet, and intoxicating dessert makes for an excellent end to a meal at Smitty's."

Dark and cool inside, Smitty's is a fine place to spend a long summer afternoon eating beef and drinking beer.

Just down the road from the El Paso airport, Smitty's is a fine introduction or goodbye for people traveling to or from West Texas.
