Doe's Eat Place

1023 W. Markham St., Little Rock, AR - (501) 376-1195
Doe's is one of the worst-looking restaurants we love. Steaks are some of the best anywhere. The staff at Doe's is amazingly friendly and obliging. Along with succulent, charred-edge slabs of beef come skillet-cooked French fries. And before the arrival of the meat you get a bowl of memorable salad slick with garlicky, lemony, olive-oil dressing. Doe's hot tamales with chili are legendary.

"After a kitchen fire back in 2010, Doe's reopened with newly refurbished dining areas that lack all the tumbledown character of the way it used to be. But the steaks remain some of the best anywhere. Porterhouses, T-bones, and ribeyes are served family-style by weight. ..."   [Read More]

"One of the more expensive steaks in town, it is worth every penny. Additionally, the cheeseburgers are not only phenomenal, the burgers are especially affordable. We especially like a meeting in the private "power room" or a nice lunch in the garden. Close to the ..."   [Read More]

Four-star French fries are an essential part of the Doe's steak-eating experience. They taste great, and they are helpful to absorb all the juices that flow from the steak on the plate they share. Here they are pictured with a sirloin sized for two.

Modest-looking, but big on flavor, marinated salad begins every meal at Doe's.

Two of us split a half-order of hot tamales as an appetizer, and even that seemed like a lot of pre-steak eating! These are superb tamales.

This is a porterhouse sized for two or three eaters. Words cannot describe the depth of its flavor. Is it possible actually to get high off a massive infusion of juicy beef?

The excellent fried shrimp is unevenly battered and there is a decided snap when you bite into them.

Doe's walls are covered with pictures of famous people who love the place, as well as clippings from many publications which have declared it a steak-eater's paradise.

An historical photo: this old floor at Doe's was replaced with clean, new linoleum after a 2010 kitchen fire.
