Jaynie's

Miry Brook Rd., Danbury, CT -
It's a tooth-and-taste buds thrill to bite into the taut natural casing on a Jaynie's hot dog and feel the skin snap. Hot dogs are the specialite de la maison, but Jaynie's also offers hamburgers, nachos, tacos and fried balogna sandwiches. There are no fry baskets, so side dishes are limited to bags of chips.

The red hot is a hot-pepper-saturated frank that first is boiled, then split and grilled. The splitting makes for a good condiment trough when the hot dog is bunned.

A hot dog with one condiment is $2. A hot dog with two to four condiments costs $2.50. Pictured here are mustard and relish.
