Countrie Eatery

950 N. State St., Dover, DE - (302) 674-8310
Breakfast at the Countrie Eaterie includes fine buttermilk pancakes or shillings (silver dollar ‘cakes) filled with bananas or blueberries as well as two kinds of French toast, one made with cinnamon bread, the other with seed-dotted sunflower bread. The latter is served as three long, thick pieces that are soft, moist, and nearly as eggy as pudding, dusted with powdered sugar. On the side, have some scrapple – two thick slices from the loaf, fried until crunchy on the outside, but moist and porky within.

For the serious pork lover, scrapple is the classic mid-Atlantic breakfast meat. The Countrie Eatery serves two big, crusty slabs.

Good fluffy omelets as this one was loaded with plenty of ham and cheese.

You can get your pancakes in orders of one, two or three and it comes with a side of meat - either bacon, sausage or scrapple.

We enjoyed the well done hash browns, but the corned beef hash was straight from a can.

Locals still know the Countrie Eatery as the Blue Coat Pancake House. The pancakes are still very good.
