Teresa's Mosaic Cafe

2456 North Silver Mosaic Drive, Tucson, AZ - (520) 624-4512
If you like flour tortillas—and like watching them being made by the hundreds—you’ll be gleefully entranced at Teresa’s. While you’re chowing down on scrumptious Mexican breakfasts (eggs, chorizo, tamales, enchiladas, etc.), you can watch tortillas being hand-formed, grilled, and collected in a huge basket for distribution throughout the restaurant. Charming décor, spectacular sights and smells, and warm service place Teresa’s at the top of our morning must-eat list while in Tucson.

"Teresa’s was recommended to us by friends Jacque and Janice, who explained that if limited to one meal at the Mosaic Cafe (as all are reportedly fantastic), the choice should be breakfast. Fans of Mexican desayuno, we eagerly took this suggestion and made the early ..."   [Read More]

The best of all worlds--scrambled eggs, a cheese enchilada, a green corn tamale, and creamy refried beans.

Green corn tamales are moist and earthy, striped with chile peppers.

Hidden behind a McDonald's, Teresa's unassuming storefront cannot prepare you for the spectacular food within!

Teresa's dense guacamole is fine to scoop up with regular tortilla chips, even better when gathered with Sonoran cheese crisps.

The mosaic theme is everwhere at Teresa's, including on this back bar behind which the tortillas are made.

Tucson claims to be the place where chimichangas were invented. Whether or not that is true, the city sure has some good ones, including these crisp mini-chimi appetizers, which you can get filled with shredded beef or chicken.

An Oaxacan treat, smoked pasilla peppers are kept in a big jar at the back of the dining room. They arrive in their perfumy liquid, and will add a rich rich, leathery flavor to whatever they touch.

Despite the GPS taking us to the right address, Teresa's is a bit tricky to access. Even this sign is hard to see unless you are looking for it.

It's not my habit to take pictures of urinals, but I couldn't resist reporting on this one in Teresa's men's room. I have never seen one placed so low on the wall.
