Salsa’s Gourmet Mexican Restaurant

403 Dickinson St., Springfield, MA - (413) 746-4456
Salvadorean fare may be hard to come by in Western Massachusetts, but Salsa’s serves some of the best in Springfield. Pupusas, the hot pockets of Central America, are served hot and stuffed with ground pork, cheese, or meat. Fried yuca and plantains are starchy treats, and the spicy twice-cooked pork and hot salsa are clear winners. Don’t forget Salsa’s full complement of Mexican dishes, too: tacos, burritos, enchiladas, flautas, and quesadillas.

The spicy twice-cooked pork accents the fried yuca’s delicious potato-like texture on this typical Salvadorean plate.

By themselves, these cheese-filled pupusas would make a meal, but alongside fried plantains, fabulous beans, and an egg-topped rice mound, this is pure Latino comfort food.
