If you are a fancier of chili dogs, you need to visit Port Chester, New York, where this little lovely, the flagship item at Texas Chili, is just one of at least a couple of top-rank chili dogs in town. It does come with a fork, but we found the whole package pretty easily pickupable, with spillage only of a few bits of onion.

Texas chili offers a full roster of soft drinks and soda pops. Texas water (right), just barely tinged with a hint of Hawaiian Punch, is the traditional chili dog companion in Port Chester.

Honestly, my taste buds were so ramped up to deal with the chili dog that, while I welcomed the cool refreshment of this Texas water, I scarcely could taste the fruit punch that colored it.

A sign on the window notes that Texas Chili is open until 4am weekend nights. A brace of chili dogs is considered by many to be the proper kill-or-cure conclusion to a long night of hard drinking.
