Paletería Michoacana de Paquime

6500 Zuni Road SE, Albuquerque, NM -
A Latino snack shop specializing in ice pops made with chunks of real fruit, Paletería Michoacana de Paquime is unlike any dessert shop in this country. The esquimales are fruit popsicles dipped in chocolate and chopped pecans, and their unbelievably fresh taste must be sampled when in Albuquerque.

The watermelon paleta has large chunks of juicy fruit suspended in the ice, but the chocolate-dipped pistachio esquimal is the true star here.

Our favorite paleta yet is this beauty, which is an amazing combination of kiwi, cantaloupe, pineapple, mango and cherry. Don't miss it!

Like ayersian mentions in the review, most of the patrons were eating nachos. Although they resemble the cheap versions you get at ball games, the freshness of the cheese and beans elevates it to something much better.

We can't resist cantaloupe agua fresca anytime we see it. About a half dozen other flavors are also offered.

Ice cream, paletas, aguas frescas, churros, nachos and chicarrones are merely a sampling of Paletería Michoacana de Paquime's offerings.

The vividly painted mural of Paletería Michoacana de Paquime is hard to miss, and the items depicted only hint at the treats found inside.

This sun-faded sign might not catch your eye, but we can't imagine coming to Albuquerque with at least one visit to Paletería Michoacana de Paquime.
