Baba À Louis

Route 11, Chester, VT - (802) 875-4666

We go to Baba's quite often on our visits to Chester. All of their baked goods are marvelous, although they are best known for their sticky buns. I also love their granola and cinnamon raisin bread. The savory breads are great with soup.

And I'd be negligent if I didn't say that my sons love their chocolate croissants. They usually have fresh coffee (and, if I remember correctly, Wi-Fi), if you want to sit a spell. I'd recommend going if only for the beautiful architecture and the wonderful aromas of the place. (The little restaurant inside is decent, but not something I'd go out of my way for.)

From the Baba A Louis web site:
"From the Baba A Louis web site: "There is a real treat nestled amongst the Green Mountains in Chester, Vermont. Next to an old barn, John McLure and Ruth Zezza have constructed a building that is very difficult to describe other than to say it is beautiful... Somewhat hiddden from the main road, the bakery welcomes you with enchanting one-of-a-kind windows, lots of natural lighting, radiant heat from the italian tiles and the smell of bread baking.""

The bakery cases are filled with brownies, meringue bites, date bars, exlairs, twists, turnovers, and these brilliant-flavored lemon bars.
