Falls View Restaurant is at a great location for I-75 travelers. It is just a short drive off of the interstate and it is nestled up against a state park that has a cascading waterfall.
Catfish is their specialty. The catfish is served three ways. The least expensive is a regular order which comes with three fish. If you prefer, boneless filets are available for small extra charge. For big eaters, “all-you-can-eat” catfish is another option. The fish is served with sides of slaw, french fries, and hushpuppies along with a plate of pickles and onions. If you would prefer a baked potato or onion rings instead of the french fries, ask the waitress. Normally they will allow substitutions for the fries. The onion rings are very tasty and are a good choice.
Other fish is available including flounder and salmon. A few non-seafood items are available including steak and quail.
The hushpuppies are usually great. The tarter sauce is excellent, albeit somewhat sweet.
The desserts are definitely worthwhile. The strawberry shortcake and banana shortcake are described on the menu as “Our specialty since 1969.” The chocolate pie is another good dessert choice, as are the other pies.
While the waitresses are friendly, they are often very busy. So be forewarned if you are in a hurry, this is not a place to eat quickly.
Fall View was just remodeled in the summer of 2004. Both the inside, as well as the outside, were reworked with some needed modernizing.
Note: what you see across the street from the Falls View Restaurant is a dam. To see the waterfall, you will need to park in the High Falls State Park near the entrance. Then walk back across the street to the Towaliga River Falls Trail. This is a short trail that leads down to an excellent view of the waterfall.
"If you don’t want fried food, this broiled red snapper with a baked potato is a good alternative"
"The homemade strawberry shortcake is layered"
"This picture shows the view of the Falls View Restaurant when coming from the I-75 side. The outside was remodeled just after this picture was taken and is now brown instead of the green shown in this picture."
