Another one of my favorite breakfast places in central Vermont, with good service, good solid food, and lots of variety. It's a large place so you never have to wait too long (except for Sunday mornings). It's also a fun place for families. The Wayside has a long winding counter for those who like to eat solo, and lots of booths. There are also lots of pie choices. This is comfort food at its best.

Homemade franks & beans along with a side of crumbly cornbread make a fine Yankee meal.

This thick, ultra-sweet chocolate pie was the perfect ending to a fine meal.  As usual, my girlfriend's fork is faster than my camera!

These hot dinner rolls come with your meal and couldn't be any softer.  My girlfriend's one word description: 'Heavenly!'

No shortcuts here!  That is real turkey on the hot turkey sandwich and those are not instant mashed potatoes.

Alas, the apple pie was quite chilly the last time we visited; and frankly, in a cheese-rich state like Vermont, we thought the kitchen could do better than these ready-cut slices when we asked for ours topped with cheddar.

It was not a good day for Grape-Nuts pudding when we stopped in. Maybe it was a good day a few days back, but based on its wan flavor and watery texture, this one seems to have been refrigerated well past its eat-by date.
