Lulu’s has been well-known to locals in the Ponte Vedra Beach area of Florida for many years. It is a "family restaurant"; low-keyed and laid-back and ready to serve locals and visitors alike. The location (on the Intracoastal Waterway) adds to the dining experience - there's a porch for those who like to eat and watch the boat traffic go by.
The food quality is excellent, with good-sized portions. Be prepared to wait a while if arriving at peak weekend lunch and dinner times (there are no reservations). But LuLu's is worth any wait. The menu (with daily specials) spans the full spectrum of seafood dishes. Intracoastal Shrimp (sautéed white shrimp in garlic sauce with mushrooms, scallions, tomato, and herbs) is the favorite of many diners. Gator tail, oysters on the half shell, tropical slaw, conch fritters, hushpuppies (the absolute best), and fried local shrimp (from Mayport, Florida right up the coast) are among the menu items.
The restaurant is open from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM daily and has a happy hour (M-F) from 4 to 7 PM and an all-day special each Monday ($2.00 Margaritas and Coronas). A Sunday brunch (11:00 AM to 2:00 PM) offering such dishes as eggs Benedict, huevos rancheros, and Lulu’s French toast is a weekly feature. When visiting (or passing through) Ponte Vedra Beach, you won’t be disappointed if you take the short drive off A1A (the restaurant is 2.2 miles west of the Solana Road/A1A intersection). They are planning an addition for later in 2006 so more people can enjoy the food, the view, and the good times.
