I had heard several people speak highly of the B'Ville Diner so I figured it was high time to check it out for myself. Upon entering, I noticed that they are really going for the '50s thing with the decor. There'a a mini-jukebox selector at each of the tables. Unlike the ones I remember from my youth, these play CDs, but it's a nice touch nonetheless.

On a recent visit my girlfriend ordered a Western omelette (ham, red and green peppers, and egg substitute) and rye toast. I tried a couple of bites and it just wasn't for me. The home fries were perfect, with a slight crust, creamy insides, good potato flavor, and spiced just right. The corned beef hash was exactly how I love it: good crust on the outside and creamy on the inside. I mixed in some black pepper, ketchup, and hot sauce and I was in hash heaven!

The thick-cut raisin French toast was divine: thick, brown, and crispy, soft and custardy on the inside. Some butter and syrup (not real maple) sealed the deal. This is the best French toast I've eaten in a really long time!

I spied the rotating pie case, prominently positioned near the door, when we came in. Our waitress said that some were sent in by a food service. I asked if they had any made in-house. She said the banana cream, coconut cream, lemon meringue and chocolate meringue were all made by "Howie" and he made enough pie crusts in one day to last the week. The chocolate meringue was one great piece of pie: huge, with a deep chocolate flavor. The nicely browned meringue was stiff and the wonderfully nutty-tasting, well-cooked pie crust was the real deal. It reminded me of so many I had as a kid at my grandma's house at Thanksgiving.

We noticed lots of locals, especially at the counter. The waitresses were very attentive, took good care of us, and kept kidding one another about getting into the picture as I was taking shots inside the diner. They offer lots of comfort food such as three different styles of meatloaf and huge "Frettas," a local favorite mixed breakfast scramble. I can't wait for my next trip to Syracuse so I can work my way through their menu!
