Kitchen Little

My husband and I went to Kitchen Little for the $12 hot lobster roll that was listed on Roadfood.com. We didn't care that it was a small place to eat with no frills. We walked in, sat down, and ordered the hot lobster roll, which we were dying for. We never looked at a menu, we knew what we wanted. My husband asked for onion rings, they didn't serve them, only fries. We said fine. Service was quick and the lobster was served on a toasted split hotdog roll. There was a fair amount lobster, a combination of tail and claw meat, flavored with a small amount of garlic and melted butter. It was a good lobster roll.

We each received about five french fries each and the fries were good, crisp and golden, but a little greasy. However, the problem wasn't the lobster roll, it was the price. The lobster rolls were $19.99 each. To top it off, I didn't get a fork. We won't go back. Disappointing!

California Benedict is visual evidence of Kitchen Little's motto, 'AM Eggstasy!' It is just the sort of fresh, sunny dish that starts the day off right.

The S'medley: scrambled eggs mixed with cheese atop fried potatoes, onions, mushrooms, and sausage. This one was offered with a choice of hot or sweet sausage.

A top-split hot dog roll, nicely toasted (on the grill) on the outside, filled with tender hot buttered lobster meat on the inside. Hard to find these days, well worth the trip.

Rightly famous for its way with eggs, Kitchen Little is no slouch in the egg-companion category. This sizzled-crisp corned beef hash is a meal unto itself.

Two eggs scrambled with cheese cost $3.95 and are perfectly simple and simply perfect. For a dollar extra, the kitchen tosses in a handful of fresh herbs. A swell addition. The accompanying English muffin is not actually English, but is secured from a Portuguese bakery in Fall River, the same city Kitchen Little gets its chourico sausage.

Seated in the airy dining room, you can hear a bit of clatter from the kitchen, but you no longer can see the bustle.
