Ezzell's Restaurant, Barbecue & Catering in Tuscumbia, AL is the second restaurant to be opened by the Ezzell family. The original is located in Red Bay, AL which is home to the Allegro Motor Homes factory. The restaurant is located in a retail strip shopping center on US-72W about 300 yards east of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame. It anchors the west end of the building and offers a drive-up window for pickup of call-in orders.

They offer daily lunch specials (meat + three) and have homemade desserts. Ezzell's prepares their barbecue daily using a Southern Pride commercial smoker. The Southern Pride allows for consistent quality barbecue day in and day out (I can say that from personal experience, since I've owned two of them).

For our visit we ordered the pulled pork barbecue plate and sides. We all agreed the pork had just the right amount of smoke. It was very tender and easily passed the BBQ judges' texture test. I ordered the fries and they were excellent; I love the skin-on variety. The hot mustard slaw is tangy with just the right amount of "get your attention" heat. If you've never had the opportunity to experience this unique North Alabama delicacy, you've missed a real taste treat. One of my buddies had the vinegar slaw, which he said was very good with just the right blend of sweet and tartness. The BBQ beans are good but not notable.

Overall it was a very good dining experience and I highly recommend you give it a try if the opportunity presents itself.
