I came across Treats Truck one day by accident on my way to work, purchased a pecan butterscotch bar, and have been hooked ever since. Kim Ima, proprietress of the Treats Truck, is an actress who loves to bake. I'm always happy to meet like-minded people and she is a delight!
On my most recent visit, I picked up an Oatmeal Jammy cookie, chocolate peanut butter brownie, butterscotch pecan bar, and a peanut butter sandwich cookie filled with chocolate creme. I often make oatmeal cookies at home, but not nearly as good as this one: chewy, with a nice brown sugar sweetness. The jam just seals the deal. My favorite is the butterscotch bar: moist, chewy, buttery, and studded with pecans. I bake brownies a lot, so I don't often buy them, but this one was really good: dense and moist with lots of peanut butter flavor on top. The peanut butter sandwich cookies with chocolate cream are moist, creamy, and very comforting.
The truck features specials from time to time. One recent treat was a childhood favorite of a cupcake served in an ice cream cone! Kim donates 10% of the profits each month to a different charity in addition to making some of the most tasty homespun treats. There is now a second Treats truck, I believe, and they can be found at various locations throughout the city. Check their website for a listing of their spots for the week, but it is always best to call ahead. This is one unique experience in the city not to be missed; I hope it's around for a very long time.
