Harry's Drive-In

104 Broadway, Colchester, CT - (860) 537-2410

I have been going to Harry's for over 30 years. It is just off Route 2, the main highway between Hartford and the Connecticut shoreline. Everybody stops here going to and from the beach in the summer. The food is just great! The hand-formed burgers are among the best in Connecticut. Fried clams are a treat, but my favorite fried fish entree are the scallops: large, sweet, firm, and delicious. Lines can be long on summer weekends, but they move quickly. There's lots of picnic tables on the grounds to enjoy the food. This is a landmark and not to be missed by anyone in the area.

The beef patty itself is thick, and that's a double layer of cheese. With lettuce and tomato added, the toothpick plunged into the top of the bun is a necessity to prevent complete collapse

While hamburgers are (rightfully) Harry's major claim to fame, we would not kick this fine chili dog off the plate, either.

Hot dogs and hamburgers have separate but equal space on Harry's grill.

After a grueling 45 minute wait in the cold and threat of rain the promised land is in sight!

Harry's is a rugged sort of drive-in, but its dining facilities, at picnic tables among these flowering trees, are positively bucolic.
