Eat 'n Meet Grill

This review is for seekers of truly fine dining in a recreational area where very often this is hard to find. With an exterior and interior that looks like a grocery store, Eat 'n Meet Grill certainly fits as a Roadfood establishment. They can seat approximately 28 diners inside and have outdoor seating at picnic tables. This restaurant is not unknown, so many diners phone-in an order for carryout. If you decide to eat-in, expect a 30-45 minute wait in this cook-to-order restaurant. They buy/butcher locally produced meats and vegetables, which is not totally unusual. But, what Chef Vargo does with ingredients should provide the reason to seek out Eat 'n Meet Grill.

On the specials section of the menu are items that are served based on the availability at that time. For example, pork shanks topped with vegetable sauce with caramelized onions, mashed potatoes and gravy becomes a pork stew concoction when mixed. Pork shanks are probably a cut of meat not normally found in restaurants, but in this chef's hands, it becomes a truly tender, savory dish worth the wait. You can use that time to purchase beer at the convenience store a half block down the street in this BYOB establishment.

Another noteworthy item is the Mexican chocolate profiteroles, which look like a cream puff with a sugar glaze and are filled with spicy chocolate. Wonderful! Poutine is an appetite killer due to it's large portion size and along with lobster bisque are menu constants. These should be tried if your party is large enough for sharing or you are very, very hungry.
