Usually when Angelenos are in the vicinity of 3rd and Fairfax, the obvious stop is the Farmers Market. However, there is a hidden gem just across the street. Tucked in a little patio between buildings at the shopping center on 3rd, Andre's Italian Restaurant has been pleasing customers since 1963.
Served cafeteria-style, the specials of the day rotate. The secret find at Andre's is their handmade ravioli and tortellini. The pasta is delicate, wrapped around delicious fillings. And they are a bargain to boot. A half-order of cheese ravioli is a steal at $5 and the meat tortellini is a bargain at $6.75 with enough to take home.
The other selections are so-so, and the chicken is a definite no-no. But Andre's has recently started serving gelato, and the banana in particular is worth a little extra change. The restaurant may be a challenge to find in the little courtyard, but Andre's is definitely worth it.
