I've been going to Famous Lunch since I was a child. Now, I am 67 years old and live in Chicago, but I never miss a chance to stop by Famous Lunch when we're back in the Capital District. The little dogs and Zippy Sauce are great!

Famous Lunch does serve breakfast and other stuff. But the reason to brave the parking at this downtown Troy landmark is the hot dogs. Four inches long and covered in mustard, onions and the Famous Zippy sauce--these locally-made dogs should be ordered in quantity. Spicy and garlicky--start with the combination special and work your way up. Get your fries covered with Zippy sauce, too! Wash it down with an RC Cola or Orange Nehi--all the while admiring the well-worn diner atmosphere from a seat at one of the high-backed wooden booths (or the counter).

Open from 5am to 10pm Monday through Saturday, Famous will also ship you hot dogs and sauce. Give them a call at (518)272-9481.
