Located in Bandon's historic area, La Fiesta is supposed to be a great Mexican restaurant but you wouldn't know if from the crowds. Walking inside, I see that the place is completely empty (turns out I escaped the dinner rush by about 45 minutes).

"Are you closed?" I ask the waiter. "No, no," he says. "Sit anywhere."

So I grab a seat and order a beer and the chile colorado. The waitstaff was immediately buzzing around me like bees, asking if everything is alright, did I need anything, etc. This is quite nice... for like, five minutes. Then it starts getting awkward. But I hesitate to say anything too negative about it. After all, I'd rather have overeager staff than nonexistent ones. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth, as they say.

The food is excellent and the portions huge. My bill totalled $20, which included a 25% tip, two bottles of beer, a side order of guacamole and dinner.

The friendly service and excellent food guarantee that if I ever return to Bandon, La Fiesta is a must.

PS - I've heard the shrimp fajitas are heavenly!
