Calgary is blessed with many places to get good coffee, but we believe The Planet is the stand-out. Mainly, we like its espresso. There is something about this dark brew that has a fuller range of taste than any other we can remember. Not to sound like wine snobs, but it has a top note, a depth of character and a finish. After you drink it, the flavor resonates on your tongue with a powerful presence but no unpleasant bitterness.

In addition to espresso, the barristas here can make you all manner of coffee drinks, including lattes and cappuccinos, dark roasts and light roasts, decafs and even tea. The eats menu includes grilled breakfast panini, baguette sandwiches, wraps, sausage rolls made from Spolumbo’s sausages and salads, as well as flaky, butter-frosted cinnamon buns hot from the oven every morning.
