Porubsky's Grocery - Topeka, KS

Lunch only, Monday through Friday. The time to come is between October and March, which is when Charlie Porubsky makes his hearty chili. Top it off with ferociously hot horseradish pickles, and you have a Topeka meal to remember.

Although this certainly doesn't look like a destination restaurant, Kansas chili lovers know that this is the place!

A flood in the early 1950s cut off easy access to Porubsky's in the 'Little Russia' neighborhood of Topeka. There's not a lot else around here to attract visitors, but Porubsky's chili is a beacon.
