Mrs. Murphy's Donuts

374 Depot St., Manchester Center, VT - (802) 362-1874

Mrs. Murphy’s is good evidence that New England donuts are the best. Forget about the national chains. Once you’ve had a real sinker at the counter of this storefront coffee shop, you can never go back to junk-food donuts.

All kinds are available and displayed on shelves behind the cash register: Boston creams, jelly-filled, iced and jimmie-sprinkled. The kinds we recommend, especially for those in search of the Platonic donut, are plain or sour cream. They are the simplest pastries imaginable: sturdy circles with a good crunch to their skin and creamy-soft insides. If you’re a dunker, they’re ideal. In fact, no donut ever matched so well with multiple cups of coffee.

Mrs. Murphy’s donuts are so respected in and around Manchester that several retail establishments sell them; but it’s best to get them at the source, especially early in the morning. Walk in to the eatery at dawn and you will see a dough-si-donut line of dunkers sitting on the rows of stools at the counter bobbing theirs in and out of mugs.

These are really good donuts. They have a good texture and the toppings taste great! They offer a large variety of donut types and toppings, at reasonable prices. Go early for the best selection because by the afternoon, there are only a few kinds left. It's easy to get to Mrs. Murphy's, just a mile or so off of Route 7.
