Café Lola

To be honest, we can't tell you much about Café Lola, having never eaten there. However, we have enjoyed coffee at "Lola's Latte," which is a coffee bar and pastry station inside the spacious café … and a rare source for espresso in Lafayette (not counting Barnes & Noble's Starbuck's). The steam-cooked java is good strong stuff, served in lovely little china cups if you get it to drink here; and all the usual extrapolations are available: con panna, macchiato, Americano, cappuccino, latte, mochaccino, and white mochaccino. Plus there are cold variations, hot teas, steamed vanilla milk, and sodas made with flavored Italian syrups.

With our morning caffeine we enjoyed a slice of very pretty red velvet layer cake and a couple of warm muffins.

Lola's lunch menu, available from 10:30am to 2pm, includes po-boys, wraps, club sandwiches, and a variety of salads. Plus 1/3-pound hamburgers. One day when we came for late coffee, the gumbo being readied for lunch smelled delicious.
