Moshe's Falafel - New York, NY

Moshe's Falafel, at the southeast corner of 46th St. and 6th Ave., is in a class by itself. The falafel are wickedly crunchy with moist centers that are radiant with the soft, earthy goodness of mashed chickpeas. We like them in a sandwich: four hefty balls piled into a folded flatbread, gilded with tahini, lettuce, tomato, and pickle.

We have never walked past Moshe's when there wasn't at least a cluster of people waiting to order. At high noon, the line stretches for yards. But the guys inside this cart are efficiency incarnate; so no matter how many people are waiting, you'll get your falafel pronto.

Here's the way to enjoy midtown's best falafel: in a sandwich with tahini sauce and a great spill of garnishes.
