Moshe's Falafel

46th & 6th Ave., New York, NY -
Posted By Michael Stern on April 18, 2004 4:24 AM
There's falafel aplenty on the street carts of midtown Manhattan; and in our opinion, most of it is mediocre: dessicated spheres low on flavor. Moshe's Falafel, which sets up shop each day at the southeast corner of 46th Street and 6th Avenue, is in a class by itself. Here the falafel are wickedly crunchy with moist centers that are radiant with the soft, earthy goodness of mashed chickpeas.

You can buy just plain falafel, but the way we like them is in a sandwich: four hefty balls piled into a folded flatbread, gilded with tahini, lettuce, tomato, and pickle.
