I've got to tell you, the first time I tried real Cuban food, I could not get enough of it. I took my wife, and she was in love with the sangria drink, but our plate was awesome. I had lamb, which was fantastic. I also got a side of tostones. I just can't describe how good it all tasted. The best thing? I spent less than $50.00, and it was worth every penny. I will have to come back. It took me by suprise.

I thought that the day would never come, but it's official, I'm saying GOODBYE to Starbucks! It was really perchance that i found this little gold mine! After a night out on the town, one of my girlfriends insisted that we stop @ Havana. In need for a pick me up I ordered a cafe con leche,OMG it was PERFECTION! I even ordered one to take home, for when I woke up! I'm so glad that I work in town otherwise my gas expense would be out of this world cause I would make the drive! Three cheers for that warm, wonderful cup of goodness!

I can't say this definitively because I haven't been to Don Ramon's, but Havana is awesome Cuban food, the best! Havana has consistently good food, whether you order at the window, or have a full sit-down meal.

The lemonade is amazing; all the fruit juices are freshly squeezed, make sure to try it. The palomilla steak is my favorite, a beaten steak with onions, all marinated with lime. I try to bring out of town guests here to get a taste of Cuban food before they go back home. And I can't go for long without that garlic Cuban bread they give you before each meal, buttery toasted and pressed...

I've also been here once at some crazy hour of night due to a flan craving. The window is open 24/7. It wasn't as fun, it's a dangerous corner in the middle of the night. But the flan and tres leches are delicious. The tres leches is a sweet white cake with a sauce on top like a sweetened condensed milk sauce (thus the name, meaning three milks). It is amazing but messy. You can also get some plantain chips or a number of savory pastries, or of course a cafe Cubano. Be careful, the parking lot is always full, and it's a tight squeeze!

Havana is a sit-down restaurant, where you can enjoy some great steak and seafood entrees, but the real appeal for Roadfooders are the Cuban sandwiches available at the 24-hour “walk-up” window. There isn’t any outdoor seating, but the hood of your car will serve as a makeshift dining table.

The Cuban sandwich is a simple combination of traditional ingredients: ham, roast pork, and Swiss cheese on Cuban bread that is always fresh, any time of day. Be forewarned that pickles, which are a standard ingredient at most places, are optional here... so if you want them, be sure to ask! Another great treat is the media noche sandwich, which is the same as a Cubano on the inside, but is made on really great tasting sweet bread. The contrast between the salty meats and cheese and the sweet bread makes for a really terrific sandwich.

On a recent visit I resisted the temptation to stick with the tried-and-true, and sampled a pan con bistec sandwich. The sirloin beef was thinly sliced and tender, garnished with grilled onions, lettuce and tomato on Cuban bread. You can have cheese on the sandwich as well, as I did. I’d recommend leaving off the lettuce and tomato, which almost makes it a Cuban cheese steak!

There aren’t many options for late night meals in this area, and even fewer choices for a great Cubano at 5AM, yet for a reasonable price you get a fine taste of Cuban fare at Havana, and it's as fast as any fast-food joint. Havana is conveniently located on the corner of South Dixie Highway and Forest Hill Boulevard, just a short distance from exit 49 off I-95, and just one exit south of West Palm Beach airport (Havana is also a favorite stop for picking up sandwiches that will draw envious stares from your fellow airline passengers).
