How do you like your pancakes? With strawberries, blueberries, bananas, bananas and walnuts, or chocolate chips? Do you like a pig in a blanket (a pancake wrapped around a sausage link) or a short stack (merely two pancakes), silver dollar-size ‘cakes or a full-size stack of pure buttermilk pancakes? All these kinds of pancakes are on the menu at Cozy Corner, and the ones we’ve eaten are pretty darn good.
Better than the pancakes are the kitchen’s hash brown potatoes. They are finely cut, well-oiled as they cook, and ideal companions for any kind of eggs. With potatoes and eggs,
the best item from the Cozy Corner kitchen is ham that is described by the waitress as “off the bone.”
It is freshly cut into meaty slices from a baked-here ham. The slices have the full, mouth-watering flavor of a country ham, but instead of a salty smack, they are infused with a sugar savor that is positively delicious. We also love the steak and eggs with a good charred skirt steak or New York sirloin.
Cozy Corner is a busy, colorful restaurant open from before dawn to late in the afternoon
, and while breakfast is the kitchen’s forte and is “served any time,” it is also a great spot to know about for diner-style lunch of meat loaf, pork chops, liver ‘n’ onions, or baked ham topped with pineapple.
Seating is at a counter or in booths and service is nearly instantaneously. No matter how crowded it is and how rushed the staff,
we defy anyone to drink all the coffee in their cup before a waitress tries to refill it
.
