Adrienne's Pizzabar

My girlfriend and I recently had pizza delivered from Adrienne's. They said it would take about an hour, but I had heard good things about the restaurant. The pizza arrived in under 30 minutes!

There was a great aroma rising from the box; it was the best looking pizza I've had in a while. The crust was nicely browned and crispy. The fresh mozzarella was brown and bubbly. The judicious amount of sauce was seasoned with oregano and possibly other herbs. My favorite bite, the corner piece, was heavenly. The crust made that crispy sound when I bit into it, and the center was cooked just right: nice and chewy, like fresh-baked focaccia.

I could taste the olive oil and herbs in the crust. It was called an "Old Fashioned" pizza and ran about $15.00. There were 10 slices, and I'm usually good for about four myself, but I really could have eaten the whole thing if only she had left the room! It wasn't as thick as a traditional Sicilian pie, but for its thickness, it was surprisingly light.

I would definitely go back for more. And they serve slices! Good pizza can be had in Manhattan, but good slices are hard to find.

As good as the pizza is, I find other items on its menu to be astonishing values: the tuna sandwich on chewy roll with a side salad of dressed arugula is a terrific lunch at $7.00, as is the lasagna (just ask them to go light on the cheese and heavy on the sauce). All of the salads are wonderful. As with the pizza, portions are huge, perfect for sharing.
