I agree with Jim. One year later the burgers are still dry and overpriced. Definitely not worth the trip.

We stopped at Litton's after hearing that they've been voted the best burgers in K-town for like the last 100 years. So of course we both ordered the regular Litton Burger. It was 2pm (after the lunch rush) and we had to wait five minutes to be seated even with at least 10 tables open that we could see. Once we were seated, the service was good and the food was served fast.

The food: both burgers were very, very dry and pretty much tasteless except for the condiments. They almost tasted as if they'd been sitting around for 10-15 minutes before being served. The onion rings were some of the best we've ever had.

Also, everything seemed to be priced about 30% too high. Two regular burgers, one order of onion rings, and just water to drink was a little over $20.00. We may have caught them at a bad time or something but no second time for us.

Located in a part of Knoxville known as Fountain City, Litton’s is a busy place at lunch time. The day we lunched there we followed the governor of Tennessee’s entourage, yet still we were treated like old friends. There is a meat market and produce racks, but the main part of the building is a sit-down place for burgers.

The burgers are large and offered in several variations. We tried the Thunder Road cheeseburger (pimento cheese, grilled onion and bacon), while our companions had the Cheeseburger Special (smokey Cheddar, lettuce and tomato and raw onion) and a good fried fish sandwich. My burger had a LOT of the strong-flavored pimento cheese, so much in fact that I removed most of it, leaving just enough to allow the flavor of the meat to dominate. The smokey Cheddar on the other burgers seemed to blend well with the flavor of the meat.

The onion rings and french fries were hot and fresh. A gentleman at the next table ordered a chili dog. As it arrived we were amazed at the huge plateful of chili, which totally covered the dog. Our pieces of red velvet cake and key lime pie, while both good, were simply "over the top" after consuming our huge burgers!

All in all, Litton’s is a great place to enjoy a real American burger in a comfortable and clean environment. It is just a couple of miles off I-75 and 640 on the north side of the city.
