Four Winds Bakery and Cafe

709 Bay St. , Beaufort, SC - (843) 379-5660
Posted By Lisa Tomer on September 7, 2006 9:41 AM
The taste and presentation of the food at Four Winds can be summed up this way: "fresh variety."

Tom (the owner) is from California and his lunch menu reflects this, with lots of Asian flavors and Italian gelato. Everything is homemade and seasonal. He emphasizes organic, sustainable, and fair trade ingredients. He employs the local artisan bread baker Irby Rentz, formerly of Twice Baked Bread Co., which was also in Beaufort until the summer of 2005. Irby bakes from scratch and hand shapes all the breads--some are made into sea turtles and crabs.

Artisan breads (including biscuits and cinnamon rolls) have a huge flavor advantage, as they are fresh out of the oven.
