Catfish Hill - Del Valle, TX

Open now for more than thirty years, Catfish Hill has its own ponds from which the fish are caught daily. They are served whole (but headless), fried to perfect succulence inside a veil of crisp cornmeal, accompanied by hushpuppies and cole slaw, followed by hot fruit cobbler. It is a simple feast, and a culinary treasure.

Just before dinner, the dining room at Catfish Hill is calm and quite. Once the catfish starts coming, it is a joyous place.

Catfish Hill is one building among a compound on the family catfish farm. There is no sign indicating it is the dining room, but once supper starts, follow the aroma of sweet fried catfish and you'll be sure to find it.
