The huge lines are worth the wait at this family-run (for over 35 years), breakfast-and-lunch-only restaurant on the beach. The omelets and original French toast are terrific. They offer four kinds of French toast, highlighted by: The Original Cinnamon-Nut (thick-sliced, full of sliced almonds and a cinnamon-sugar coating), Crunch Honey Granola (with almonds, peanuts, raisins, and pecans), and the Raisin Cream Cheese French Toast (served with warm raisin syrup).

Breakfast features a variety of specialty meats. Steak & eggs: comes with a New York strip! The French toasts can be served with Peameal bacon imported from Canada, while the blueberry pancakes stuffed with loads of blueberries and served with warm maple syrup can be served with Choked bacon, also imported from Canada. Of course all breakfasts come with juice and you can choose FRESH-squeezed Florida OJ.

Head to the beach for a nap and some sun, then come back for a seafood lunch. Hand-breaded Gulf White shrimp, homemade crab cakes and the fish sandwich are highlights. Also, they claim to have served over one million servings of fish & chips. You can also opt for this fish broiled or as a sandwich, or a broiled sandwich served on a wonderful kaiser roll. The other hand-breaded seafood can be order individually or as the John G’s Seafood Combo which includes fish, shrimp, scallops, clam strips and a crab cake. All this is served with French fries, coleslaw and corn fritters. For $0.45 you can have it broiled. The burgers are 7-ounce sirloin, while the frankfurters are quarter-pound Vienna Beef. The stacked sandwiches come triple-decker except they skip the extra layer of bread!

This is the kind of place where while the line might be long; the people are friendly and everyone is truly excited about getting into John G's. The wait is eased by some of the smiles and laughs on the faces of the old-timers and the breezes from the ocean. Breakfast is served until 11:15am on weekdays and noon on the weekends. On one occasion my brother and I waited from 11:45am and they seated us at noon but we still could not get the breakfast menu!

A few other things to note: they do not accept credit cards and parking can be difficult. So bring along some change for the local municipal meters.
