I moved to this area in December, 2007; sampled many local restaurants over several months; was looking for the small-town diner experience where the food is good, prices are cheap, and the staff is friendly. I found it all here!

The outside of the restaurant is nondescript. Roxy Brown Lantern appears to have been a drive-in at one time; maybe not. There's a counter which covers the length of the restaurant.

The entire staff is friendly. I don't understand it. They are great! Each person is super-pleasant and very helpful. They've all worked here for many years. It seems they know every customer who comes in on a regular basis by name. Even after I had only been in a few times, they remembered my name, my employer, how I like my eggs, etc. There's only one newspaper available outside, the local "Herald-Palladium," but I guess that's what you should be reading if you're in St. Joseph County, isn't it?

Sadly, I will be leaving Benton Harbor/St. Joseph soon. I will really miss this place and all the great people I've met here. Will definitely make it a stop when I visit in the future!
