My husband and I stopped for lunch and got the pit beef and pulled pork sandwiches. The barbecue sauce was very good. Stewart, you should bottle and sell this sauce. It would save me a two-and-a-half-hour trip to your restaurant.

The food was so good that we stopped by the next day and got a pound of pit ham and order of coleslaw to take home. Chef Stewart packed the food up nicely and gave us a bag of ice so that the food would stay fresh for the trip.

We stopped at Flannery's on our way to Chincoteague and it was so great we stopped on the way back too! Best food of the trip by far.

The BBQ pork sandwich is scrumptious, filled with crusty, smoky pieces of meat and a perfect sauce with just enough tomato and a bite of vinegar; great balance. The great tasting jerk chicken sandwich is moist and perfectly sauced; it has just the right amount of kick. And the fries are delicious, fluffy on the inside, crisp on the outside, and just the right amount of salt. My kids LOVED the chili cheese fries and, yes, we stole a few from their plate. They were just too good to pass up. The chili itself is complex and incredibly delicious.

The owner, Chef Stewart, is the nicest guy, and a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America to boot. All in all, a true Roadfood gem. Look for the little white trailer with awning on the side of the road. Blink and you might miss it and what a loss that would be!

Flannery's is one of the best roadside BBQ joints you could visit on the eastern shore of Maryland. If you find yourself heading to Ocean City it might be worthwhile to detour towards Flannery's to experience some of their delightful food.

The pit smoked ham sandwich was tasty with just enough smoke flavor. Put on the griddle to warm, the sandwich had several crispy bits around the edges. Served with a sweet, lightly spiced chunky barbecue sauce that was good on the sandwich and the fries!

Flannery's is a true Roadfood find. The mobile catering unit and BBQ pit is located by the side of the road in Fruitland, just a bit beyond the boundaries of Salisbury, offering the best jerked chicken sandwich it has ever been my pleasure to eat.

The pieces of chicken are large and juicy, with just the right amount of spice: hot enough to make your palate tingle but not so much that your taste buds are numbed by the heat. The French fries, cooked to order, are hot, crunchy, and perfectly salted. Sprinkle on the vinegar and these are good enough to qualify for French fry heaven. We didn't try Chef Stewart's BBQ, but his pit is serious business and if our chicken was any indication, I would bet on the BBQ being equally good.

There is a table if you want to sit down and eat, but you can also order your food to go. If you should find yourself anywhere near Flannery's, it would be worth a detour.
