The Donut Pub in New York City has been cranking out some mighty good donuts since 1964; I've been indulging in them for the past five years. One of the great things about the Pub is that they are open 24/7, so one can satisfy that craving whenever it strikes. Believe me, these are crave-worthy donuts!

My holy trinity of donuts are the chocolate ring, sugar twist, and toasted coconut. All three are raised, yeasted donuts and they are as light as air and incredibly addictive. On my most recent visit, around 4pm, they were fantastic. Nonetheless, they are best early in the morning when they first come out of the fryer. On a few occasions I've stopped by for some to go and have basked in the warm glow emanating from my bag, barely able to get home before ravishing those beauties and smiling through a pillow of warm, sugary goodness.

The chocolate ring has a deep chocolate flavor. Many times, a donut shop's frosting tastes only of sugar, but not here. The honey dip is my all-time favorite; it goes down easy and is finger-licking good. The sugar ring has a wonderfully sandy crunch. All make for a superb breakfast of champions. Champion of what exactly, I don't know, but these are gold medal to me, every time.
