Archie Moore’s - New Haven, CT

This neighborhood bar, now with five branches around the state, was the first to bring Buffalo wings to the Nutmeg State. These wings are meaty, fried to perfection, and sauced without excess. Start with a plate of wings and pick another excellent appetizer, like their Pulled Pig Nachos or Bottlecap Sliders. Be sure to take home a bottle of Archie Moore’s wing sauce, original or extra hot, available in grocery stores across the state.

Pecan pie with chocolate chips was not as delicious as it sounded, though we Roadfooders have very high pie standards to satisfy.

If Archie Moore had invented hot wings at the turn of the century, Buffalo might not be part of America’s modern food history.
