Livingston, Montana: at first glance Livingston appears to be a dusty old town that landed right in the middle of a campy spaghetti Western. In actuality Livingston is one of the main gateways to Yellowstone National Park, with the Yellowstone River and Beartooth Mountains at its doorstep. The town thrives with tourism and local celebrity residents.
In the center of it all, you'll find the Stockman Bar. Part Western cafe, part saloon, and part keno parlor, the Stockman Bar is steeped in history, exhibiting just as much character as Livingston itself.
On entering the wood panel dining room you'll find that the walls are decorated with prints of cowboys and horses. Although the restaurant serves steaks and chops at dinner, for lunch you'll want a burger, for these burgers are something else. Grilled to your liking, these hand-pattied big boys are dripping with juices and brimming with big beefy flavor. Cheese and other toppings are optional, but in my opinion cheddar and bacon simply put these burgers right over the top. Although the thick, hand-cut french fries are just a little bit greasy, the golden brown skin shields an interior of profound potato flavor.
For a bit of Americana and a bite of the Old West, just mosey on down to the Stockman.
