Yats

We found Yats while visiting family in the old neighborhood. It was too funky to resist, and the thought of some Cajun/Creole sent the tastebuds watering.

Upon entering, everyone was so friendly, we felt at home immediately and set about chatting with the great guy behind the bar. He offered up tastes of each of their specialties which we all eagerly dipped our spoons into. The samples were so good-tasting, it was difficult to narrow down to one choice. (They will even split your meal into a half-and-half combo if you like!) The entrees are prepared fresh and painstakingly. The roux that starts their gumbo has to be lovingly tended to achieve the dark color and rich flavor. I am ashamed at how close I was to picking up the bowl and licking it.

I recommend Yats. It is fresh, flavorful, funky, friendly, and fabulous!
