Marcus Dairy Bar - Danbury, CT

Ever since Jack and Pearl Marcus opened their restaurant in 1947 Pearl has insisted on roasting birds from scratch and carving them every day. The result is meat that is velvet-soft, moist, and full flavored. Piled cold onto a roll or laid out hot on a plate with a pile of mashed potatoes and gravy, this is quintessential Roadfood turkey.

Marcus Dairy Bar's version of the diner classic: hot turkey on a bed of white bread topped with gravy. Here, mashed potatoes are not nearly as good as French fries, which are especially delightful when sopped with gravy. Life is good!

Dating back to 1947, Marcus Dairy is a beacon for travelers along Route 7 or I-84 as well as a gathering place for Danburians.

The Marcus family has said they want the familiar white dairy silo to remain as a symbol of the Dairy Bar's wonderful past even into the future of the property.
