Mast General Store - Valle Crucis, NC

Leaning, tilting, still settling, the Mast General Store is a genuine antique with all the charms of a real small-town store, including a vintage gas pump outside, a big warm stove in the middle of the main room, and the town post office opposite the cash register. What we like most from its vast inventory of edibiles and non-edibles is mountain honey -- clear, beautiful, and delicious, available with or without the comb inside the jar.

Look closely at the front of the Mast General Store and you can see how uneven it is: the result of a century of settling and numerous additions.
