Snappy Lunch

125 N. Main St., Mount Airy, NC - (336) 786-4931
Posted By Bob Wilkus on 1/2/2004 9:34:00 AM
We were lucky to find a parking place in front of Snappy Lunch on a rainy December day at 1:05 p.m. (they close at 1:15). And the luck continued when we sat at the counter and were served one of the great original sandwiches in America. Snappy's pork chop sandwhich with all the trimmings is a multi-textured delight -- tender fried pork, slightly crunch slaw, toothsome chili, and yummy condiments -- that's a one-of-a-kind experience. A bag of chips and ice tea are just right on the side. And after you're done, wash up in the dining room's sink and savor the experience.

A Main Street fixture since before Andy Griffith grew up in Mount Airy, Snappy Lunch radiates the kind of small-town charm that inspired Andy's fictional hometown of Mayberry.
