I found Frank & Burgy's on my way up to Old Forge on Route 28 in the village of Herkimer. And what a great find it is! I'm a huge fan of Roadfood.com and happy that I can finally add my own discovery. This place rocks.
Everything is freshly made to order (and they proudly promote this) with all fresh, never frozen, ingredients. The menu is small but perfectly done: Hoffman Hots, burgers, fries (both sweet potato and regular), all with your choice of toppings. I don't know what could be so different about their cheeseburgers, but once you try them, you'll agree... they are perfect. The way the bun is slightly toasted gives just the right amount of support for the juicy, fresh burgers and warm, melty cheese, topped with lettuce, onions, mayo, ketchup, and mustard... it's unbelievable how such a loaded burger is so easy, and not messy, to eat!
These guys have it down to a science. They also have a grilled cheese sandwich that looks amazing.

Overall: Worth planning a day around

"Frank and Burgy's makes everything fresh, never frozen, and one bite totally validates it! Perhaps the best-tasting and constructed cheeseburger... ever."

"Again, super-fresh and good-tasting. Made with Frank and Burgy's homemade chili with just the right amount of sweetness and a griddled, locally made Hoffman hot dog on a slightly toasted bun. And the fries: fresh-cut, done Belgian-style. Delicious."
