Annabelle's Ice Cream - Portsmouth, NH

Tucked down an alley just off the main drag in downtown Portsmouth, Annabelle’s award-winning natural ice cream has been turning heads and making smiles since Lewis Palosky cranked up his churns in 1982. Witty marquees accent the small shop, and generous tasting spoonfuls give Annabelle’s a distinctively quirky vibe that perfectly suits Portsmouth’s eclectic, seacoast character.

Overall Experiencerating
White Pistachio Ice Cream - A standard by which all other pistachio ice creams should be judged. The ice cream was white and creamy with a natural pistachio flavor, and there were enough nuts to ensure maximum crunch in every bite! rating
Maple Walnut Ice Cream - In contrast to the synthetic flavor of other maple ice creams, this maple flavor tasted fresh from the tree. The only downside was that the flavor was too subtle to fully satisfy taste buds. rating
Vanilla Ice Cream - The description "pure vanilla ice cream with golden egg yolks" set high expectations that could not be met. The ice cream provided a good base for toppings, but but the flavor was weak and the consistency could have been creamier. rating
Hot Fudge Sauce - It would be fantastic if Annabelle's all-natural ice cream was accompanied by a fabulous homemade hot fudge, but sadly it is not so. This sauce was serviceable, but nothing out of the ordinary. rating
