Our only Shoney's closed and I miss theirs too and their strawberry pie. I made one the other day and it turned out pretty good.
Re:Hot Fudge Cakes (SassyGritsAL)

Will definitely make the one claracamille posted - I stoped at a local "ice cream, etc." place called Frizzles and pulled through the drive thru and asked if they had hot fudge cake and the girl mumbled they did and quoted a price I couldn't understand. Drove up and she said that will be $4.87! What! For a small brownie like piece of cake, few scoops of ice cream and whipped cream w/a cherry on top! I paid and took it home to my son. It certainly wasn't worth $4.87.
Re:Hot Fudge Cakes (ann peeples)

 Sounds good and easy, claracamille!
Re:Hot Fudge Cakes (claracamille)

Hot Fudge Cake is really easy to make.
I do the really easy way:
Bake a Jiffy chocolate cake in a 8" pan.
Cut into squares, cut squares into 2 pieces, vanilla ice cream on bottom piece, add top piece, cover with hot fudge, top with Redi Whip & a cherry.
I always have all of the ingredients except for the ice cream on hand & this is a great quick dessert.

Re:Hot Fudge Cakes (MellowRoast)

I sure do miss Howard Johnson's, though. Particulary the fried clams and ice cream.
Re:Hot Fudge Cakes (MiamiDon)

Frisch's Big Boy Hot Fudge Cake

Re:Hot Fudge Cakes (Michael Hoffman)

MellowRoast

I, too, ate them for years at Shoney's both during and after it's Big Boy days. Could be other Big Boy outlets have them.

The Frisch's Big Boy restaurants have it.
Re:Hot Fudge Cakes (mar52)

Doesn't Outback have something similar called...
Thunder Down Under?
Re:Hot Fudge Cakes (MellowRoast)

I, too, ate them for years at Shoney's both during and after it's Big Boy days. Could be other Big Boy outlets have them.
Re:Hot Fudge Cakes (Michael Hoffman)

Our kids always loved them at Shoney's.
Hot Fudge Cakes (chewingthefat)

I love them, doesn't seem like places have them anymore.
