Your Peter Lugar sauce on pulled pork is a great idea. You want the Coletta's on the east side, though, off I-40, around exit 14. When are you going? There's better bbq than Italian.
Re:I was by Colletta's in Memphis, today (CCinNJ)

I think that would have disqualified me.

I'll bring a bottle of Peter Luger sauce with me. BBQ salad will become CC salad.

I don't know about this Italian restaurant stuff in Tennessee...but what do I know? Really.

Re:I was by Colletta's in Memphis, today (Poverty Pete)

I think the counter guy told me that anybody with a hillbilly accent gets the silver spoon treatment
Re:I was by Colletta's in Memphis, today (CCinNJ)

No...I don't recall that. I was too busy smiling so you would get Fiore's fresh mozzarella...on a silver spoon.

I do recall some pushy guy running over to answer one of your questions about peppers. Back off Brother...it took me almost 5 years to get someone to take the <<<Hoboken>>> Roadfood tour.

Re:I was by Colletta's in Memphis, today (Poverty Pete)

Oh, this is what you call payback time! CC, do you recall the time we were in Fiore's? In the sandwich line? I didn't even know to pull my own bread order? When I asked you what to get, you said, "Oh, whatever you like..."
Now we can talk about your bbq salad.
Re:I was by Colletta's in Memphis, today (CCinNJ)

  I'm going to Memphis.

What kind of salad dressing goes on BBQ salad.

Re:I was by Colletta's in Memphis, today (senor boogie woogie)

I am from Memphis, and this restaurant has been there for my entire lifetime (in my 40's), so at least from the 1970's.

The restaurant itself is in "the hood", so to speak, so I cannot atest to their clientele. Since they have been there forever, they obviously have their fans. Not to mention that this was probably one of the first real Italian restaurants that came to Memphis, probably them or Grisanti's (another famous restaurant guy in Memphis).

Supposedly, Coletta's was a good place to get served alcohol underage.
Re:I was by Colletta's in Memphis, today (Root-Beer Man)

It's been many years since I've eaten at Colletta's, (with my wife and her grandmother). Still remember the food being good. Have to make a point of getting back there next time we go through Memphis.
Re:I was by Colletta's in Memphis, today (wanderingjew)

I remember that- can't believe it's been almost 4 years!
I was by Colletta's in Memphis, today (Poverty Pete)

The original, I think, on Southpark. It looked exactly like it did the day Wandering Jew and I first tracked it down.
