By your standards, we're not really talking about Italian restaurants. I'll bet you don't even have fried raviolis up there! Your Peter Lugar sauce on pulled pork is a great idea. You want the Coletta's on the east side, though, off I-40, around exit 14. When are you going? There's better bbq than Italian.

I'll bring a bottle of Peter Luger sauce with me. BBQ salad will become CC salad.

I don't know about this Italian restaurant stuff in Tennessee...but what do I know? Really.

I do recall some pushy guy running over to answer one of your questions about peppers. Back off Brother...it took me almost 5 years to get someone to take the <<<Hoboken>>> Roadfood tour.

I am from Memphis, and this restaurant has been there for my entire lifetime (in my 40's), so at least from the 1970's.

The restaurant itself is in "the hood", so to speak, so I cannot atest to their clientele. Since they have been there forever, they obviously have their fans. Not to mention that this was probably one of the first real Italian restaurants that came to Memphis, probably them or Grisanti's (another famous restaurant guy in Memphis).

Supposedly, Coletta's was a good place to get served alcohol underage.

It's been many years since I've eaten at Colletta's, (with my wife and her grandmother). Still remember the food being good. Have to make a point of getting back there next time we go through Memphis.

The original, I think, on Southpark. It looked exactly like it did the day Wandering Jew and I first tracked it down. It looked as though it had been closed for ever.
